Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries will completely transform the first floor of the Science Museum, creating a magnificent new home for the most significant medical collections in the world.

Three thousand medical artefacts from the extraordinary collections of Henry Wellcome and the Science Museum Group will go on permanent public display in the world's largest space dedicated to the history of medicine.

Spanning more than 500 years of history, the galleries will be an unparalleled resource for secondary students, with links to Science, History, Psychology, PSHE and Religious Studies. They will also be relevant for KS2 children.

The galleries will be accompanied by a range of free teaching materials to support class visits. The resources will be available for download here when they are ready, so keep checking regularly or sign up to our newsletter for updates.

For secondary schools that can't visit the museum, our Outreach team can bring our new Medical Marvels object-handling session to your venue.

Designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects, Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries will cover more than 3000m², an area equivalent to 1,500 hospital beds.

Medicine sponsors: Wellcome, HLF, GSK, The Wolfson Foundation, Vitabiotics, The Dr Mortimer and Theresa Sackler Foundation
